| Rapid development of
information technologies and accessibility of information sources
create new capabilities in education system, especial in the system
of Distance Education (DE) – one of the most prospective and efficient
system of preparation of the specialists.
At present, the research works in direction of development of
Distance Education (DE) are actively conducted. The Project of DE
of USA Program of Partnership between Indiana University and AzRENA
– IU/AzRENA (AZ01) has been concluded in 2003, which came into full
force in January, 2004. The purposes of the project are preparation
of 5 (five) quality specialists in the field of DE for organization
of full-scale Distance Education in Azerbaijan. AzRENA is to be
considered as the base Center of DE on the regional level.
In the frame work of IU/AzRENA, the project group of Indiana University
with the head of the group Mr. Tom Daffy has been vizited Azerbaijan
from May 16 to June 5, 2004. The purposes of the visit were the
carrying out of the subsequent part of education of the instructors,
enabled in this project and also, analysis of the field of DE, establishment
of the personal contacts in our republic and holding E-Learning
Symposium 2004 on May 25.
We are going to invite 4 representatives (2 teachers, 1 technical
specialist and 1 administrative officer) from each educational institute
in Baku for participation in the Symposium. The pedagogical strategies
and approaches in E-Learning, prospects of the Program of Partnership
between Indiana University and AzRENA, questions of support of DE
and other aspects of DE in Azerbaijan will be on the agenda in E-Learning
Symposium.
